To The Steel

To The Steel
ã 2002 Eric J. Hill
Morning Squire Music/ASCAP

Well, I was walking in the park
Depressed and lonely and my mood was dark
I was so low down that I could scarcely feel
I saw a woman sitting on a bench
One look in her eye gave this old heart a wrench
We were attracted to each other like the motherlode to the steel.
I walked right up and said, “Hey, what’s your name?’
She said, “I’ll keep that to myself if it’s all the same,
I mean a rose by any other name still smells just as real.”
She slid over and I sat down.
Together we sat and watched the galaxy go round
We were attracted to each other like the motherlode to the steel.
We sat there together never said a single word
It was the sweetest silence that I have ever heard
And deep within my shattered heart I felt those painful layers peel
A few hours later the sun was coming up
We were pouring a little coffee into our little coffee cups
We were attracted to each other like the motherlode to the steel.
Well we’ve been together ever since that night
Everything we do feels oh so right
I never knew that true love could be so surreal
But once in a while every now and then
It makes me smile ‘cause I remember when
We were attracted to each other like the motherlode to that steel.
